Anonymous asked: I'm coming to Winthrop in the fall. I would love to see a picture of the closet space in Wofford to get an idea of what I will have room to bring. I haven't been able to find a picture online. Could someone take a picture of the closet space for me? Thanks!

toledocraigslist: College is one of the best experiences anyone can have. It is when you can get out of your home and get your first taste of freedom. You’ll be able to meet a lot of people, try new things and attend raging frat parties. Because of the many fun things to do in college, students tend to forget that they are there not only to have fun but to learn as well. Are you caught in the...

rustle-like-the-wind asked: Hi. I'm gonna be a freshmen at WU next year and right now I have too many absences in a class for credit. But the class is just filler in my schedule and isn't important to me graduating. I could pay 60 bucks for get hours back for that class but the class really isn't important. Do you think if I don't make up for this class I will get a denial letter after the fact? I checked...

Placement Tests
Inspired by the Undecided Anon, here is information about placement tests! Language: Winthrop offers a Language Placement Exam in Spanish, French, and German.  Almost every major requires at least one language class.  The advisor you meet with at Orientation before you register will let you know if your major requires one or more language classes. You should take this test if you took a...

Make friends with people in your classes.
That way, you guys can peer-edit each other’s papers, make sure you understand the assignments, get the notes from each other if one of you is sick, and study together. Even if you don’t want to be best friends with these people (and that’s okay), adding them on Facebook, exchanging numbers/email addresses, and being friendly will get you a LONG way!

The Importance of Using the Library
Finding the library (it’s across Oakland from the rest of campus, near Withers and Dinkins) and USING the library will help you more than you could ever believe.  And the earlier you get started, the better off you’ll be. Here are a few ways that the library can help you: 1. There is NO limit on how many books you can check out.  This means that you could have two books out, or...

What You Should Do When You Get to Winthrop
- Get to know your roommate and your hallmates.  No one said that you have to be best friends with these people, but the more you get along, the easier your life will be.  Go to the Welcome Week events and try to meet some people.  Who knows… at 2am when you desperately need more printer paper or a staple, those people might be awake and willing to help. - Make sure your meal plan is right...

Tips About Classes and Life at Winthrop
- Talk to your professors.  Whether it’s just to stay after class for a minute or two, or dropping by his/her office hours, talking to your professors will help them get to know you (and probably like you) better.  You can talk to them if you are struggling and need help, or if you just want to say you really enjoy their class or a lesson they taught. - Check your email!  Some people might...

What You Should Bring to Winthrop
- Clothes.  During your first year at Winthrop, you will mostly likely live in either Wofford/Richardson (one dresser and a closet area) or Margaret Nance (one dresser and one closet).  Keep those space restrictions in mind.  Of course, you will be able to bring space-saving containers and etc., but try to limit yourself.  Begin with the essentials, then add to it if you think you have extra...

Things to Do Before Coming to Winthrop
- Visit the school.  It’s really nice to come during Winthrop Day or during a First-Look Friday, because there are people here who are prepared to walk you around, let you sit in on classes, and introduce you to people… not to mention they make sure the food is pretty good, too.  However, it might also be nice to ask a friend who currently attends Winthrop if you can maybe stay with...
